On January, 19 2009, on Epiphany, at tourist complex Bukovel we will hold the second Ukrainian festival of winter swimmers. Winter swimming fans of almost all regions of Ukraine will participate. The motto of the festival is “Promotion of healthy lifestyle”

The schedule includes festal ministration, consecration of water, grand opening of celebrations, winter swimming, awarding of participants with diplomas and costly presents.

We also offer the rich entertaining program with the participation of Gutsul folk singing and dancing ensemble of Ivano-Frankivsk regional philharmonic society.

Approximately 100 people took part in the first Ukrainian winter swimming festival – representatives of all the regions of Ukraine, of them eleven women. Nine of the participants tested their strength for the first time, but there were also experienced swimmers with the 15 and 17 years of swimming experience. The youngest participant was the 14 years-old Oleksiy Hemenets fro Uzhgorod and the oldest – 73 years-old Petro Tymchuk from Ivano-Frankivsk. As he told the pressmen it was winter swimming that helped him to improve his health after the unfavorable doctors’ diagnosis.

Petro Tymchuk says: “In our village there’s a well. The temperature is 27 degrees below zero and I take my clothes off. That well is far from this water opening. And then I said – God does exist! And God protects me. So I advise everyone: don’t be afraid of cold water, swim”.

After swimming the participants were awarded with the diplomas and Hutsul souvenirs in memory of this event.

II Ukrainian festival of winter swimmers at TC Bukovel should be very interesting, and what is more important – it will offer the marvelous moments of merging into nature.
